Keeping Your Data

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the following:

Prospective Customers

For those who may have a general interest in our services but not purchased from us or set up a trading account, we retain your personal data for as long as we feel is necessary to fulfil the purposes of marketing analysis and direct marketing.

Customers

We will hold on to your information for as long as you have your account with us and in order to fulfil the contract of sale to supply you with goods or services. We only use this for direct marketing if you have opted in as described above.

We retain the personal details collected for legitimate business interests in order to service any transactional or technical queries over your order, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms and conditions, deal with any claims under warranty and provide exemplary customer service in providing further quality engineered solutions. We also retain these details in the unlikely event of having to respond and substantiate or contest any public liability claims for damage or injury stemming from customers who may have purchased products not manufactured or supplied by us.

Security

We know how important it is to protect and manage your personal data. This section sets out some of the measures we have in place. For a company of our size (SME) we always employ state of the art IT security measures appropriate to our company size and the level of data being processed.

We use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption, and we enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files to keep this data safe. We only authorise access to employees who need it to carry out their job responsibilities.

We protect the security of your information on our website while it is being transmitted by encrypting it using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Furthermore, we employ monitoring software on our site to try to detect hacking attempts.

We enforce physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage and disclosure of personal data. We may occasionally ask for proof of identity before we share your personal data with you.

However, whilst we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal data, please note that in this day and age when even the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) website has been compromised, we cannot guarantee the security of any personal data that you transfer over the internet to us.

Your Rights

You have a lot of rights relating to your personal information:

  • The right to be informed about how your personal information is being used (like this notice!)
  • The right to access the personal information we hold about you. No fee is required for this process, however, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances. In order to comply with requests we may need to request specific information to help us to confirm your identity and ensure your rights to access your personal information. This is a security measure to ensure that personal information is not disclosed to any person who does not have the legal right to receive it.
  • The right to request the correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to request that we delete your data, or stop processing it or collecting it, in some circumstances and where there is no good, or legal reason for us to do so. You have the right to object to the process of your personal data where we are relying on a legitimate interest if you feel it may impact on your fundamental rights and freedoms
  • The right to stop receiving direct marketing messages, which you can do through the Contact page on our website, by Unsubscribing from an email marketing campaign or by contacting us by post.
  • The right to request that we transfer your personal data either to you or a third party identified by you. This right only applies to information which you initially provided consent for us to use, or where we used the information to perform a contract of sale.
  • The right to complain to your data protection regulator — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office

If you want to exercise your rights, have a complaint, or just have questions, please contact us. We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month, although it may take longer if your request is complex. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
